UI Patterns and Techniques

My boss sent this link around a couple of weeks ago. Finally got around to checking it. With everyone so focused on programming design patterns, here’s are some for the interface designers out there. I haven’t read them all but it looks like pretty solid advice in general.

  1. Keith,

I’m using MSIE 6.0 under WinXP Pro … the text contents of your blog entries are not visible until I highlight them … if you’re using MT, it’s usually some bit of HTML that MT doesn’t like (I had this happen before).

Scott, I’m using the same setup and it looks fine. Nobody else has mentioned this either. Are you sure you don’t have some kind of different default css set for your browser?

  3. Daniel says:

Same setup here, no problems either.

Great link. If memory serves Brandon Hall linked it about two years ago. It’s great to see they hybrid nature of flash developers (caring about UI). Good post!

This could also be poor gamma and/or monitor config – if it’s an old CRT, or the gamma hasn’t been set (or has been, improperly, same goes for the monitor), then the grey text on the grey background could appear to be the same color.

    Thanks ! I think i’ll learn a lot from that one .

  7. Nothing to do with my monitor settings, or default css settings.

I’ll post the problem (and screenshot) if it happens again, otherwise chalk it up to an IE fluke … but,I have seen on other (older) MT version blogs as well … perhaps it’s a problem with MT/IE … or perhaps I have little elves inside my machine … doesn’t everyone? Overdue for a clean slate on my winxp box anyways …

Scott, same set up never had a problem.
