Cool Tool: FlashMute

Like many developers, I listen to music while I work, via iTunes on the same computer I’m coding on.

I’m often testing video players on line which are playing videos and ads. The same videos over and over, and the same ads over and over. And these play at the same time as my music. In the same headphones. So I did a quick search to see if there was some kind of plug-in or utility that could disable the browser’s sound, or control its volume. And I found it:

This is Windows only. Puts an icon in your task menu. Click on it and you can control the browser’s volume or mute it all together. Just what I needed. The one thing that took me a minute to figure out though, is that I had to go into settings and check “Mute whole browser”. After that, it works like a charm.

Man… I am in the exact same boat. I have been working on the video players for FileFront.com and the SAME ads keep playing over and over again. It truly drives me nuts. Thank you.

This made my Friday. It’s amusing to hear some videos a few times, but after a few hundred listens, it drives me a little crazy…

Great stuff!!!All my projects have music background. No matter how well the music is done, if you listen to it again and again, you get really sick of it. Thanks!
