The delivery man just dropped off a big box labeled, “Author’s Copies”!

I usually get them a few days before they are in the stores, and Amazon says in stock on the 27th. So if you pre-ordered, you should get it soon. Not crazy about the cover but inside looks great. Hope you all like it.

That’s great Keith, congrats on the book launch! Looks like I’ll be getting this for me as a last xmas present. You’re books have been consistently awesome. Have you thought about having your publisher put up some pages on preview on Amazon?
Congrats again!

Yeah, what happened to your old cover artist, Corne van Dooren? And Rezmason, this book is more advanced (or should I say, “AdvancED?”), and contains updates on the new features of Flash 10 (like built-in 3D, the new drawing API, etc.).

Looking forward to this book! I skipped on Animation AS3 since I have the AS2 version but this one looks interesting. I agree on the cover, FoED should have hired the same designer who made the other covers, this cover looks a little dull.

hello , i am your readers from hong kong .(foundation action script3.0 making things move)
because i can’t find you email in anywhere. so i only can drop my message here.sorry
in page 74.
you said
“almost any time you are talking about x, you should immediately
think cosine, and you should almost always connect y with sine”
but you code is
ball.x = centerX + Math.sin(angle) * radius; <–using sine in x?
ball.y = centerY + Math.cos(angle) * radius; <–using cos in y?
but your book said using cosine in x and
using sine in y , it is your wrong?
i think the code should written like that
ball.x = centerX + Math.cos(angle) * radius;
ball.y = centerY + Math.sin(angle) * radius;
Hope and can answer my question ,thx
Merry Chirstmas
From Billy

Mine is on the way, but I have to wait till January the 23th to get my hands on it. It has already been shipped though.

I like how you explain things and the little pinches of humour, keep the good work!.
Thanks!

I just received my copy of the book and it has chapter 8 duplicated, the chapter on Pixel Bender is completely missing. Hopefully, this isn’t a wide spread problem.

Aaron: Oh no! You should get a replacement for sure. I’m finding out what’s up with that. My copies seem to be fine.

Keith, fantastic! I should get mine shipped tomorrow or Thursday, but I downloaded the sample chapter on Integrals from FriendsOfEd and wow, get out of my head, dude! I’ve been working with Voronoi, Shaders and Verlet in Silverlight during the holidays, (we did the LineRider port a while back) and I absolutely LOVED how you broke it down in the chapter. BEST tutorials out there for Actionscript, Silverlight, or whatever. Wish I could have had this a couple months ago, would have save me days of headache! Can’t wait to read the rest of the book. I’ll be speaking at MIX09 and pushing your book hard even to the Silverlight des/devs who want to beef up their game. “Buy the book and port it over, its worth it. Won’t find a better source anywhere.” As usual, lightyears ahead of what’s out there for either language. You rock, kp!

Happy New Year 2009! Will definitely get one once Amazon UK has it in stock! Looking forward to it:)
4 January 2009 @ 5:52 pm
My best congratulations, Keith! I am reading your previous book – Actionscript 3.0 Making Things Move and this is great, so easy to read and understand and I’m sure this one will make a very valuable addition to my collection! Best wishes in New Year!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Keep it up!
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Kate

18 January 2009 @ 1:36 pm
I bought this book from Amazon and am wondering if anybody knows if it’s possible to purchase a software version of the book.
21 February 2009 @ 10:27 am
Hi Brandon,
You can buy an electronic download version of the book on Apress.com. Unfortunately, the friendsofed.com site’s domain has expired. That’s a big problem. I wonder if there is an ip address for the actual friends of ed site?
Actually, that is my problem too!
Keith is there a way to get the source code other than the friends of ed site? (e.g. through rapidshare or some other ftp download site?)
Thanks,
David
